PADI Divemaster course Florida Keys

Take Your Diving to the Professional Level

The PADI Divemaster course is your first step into professional diving. You’ll learn how to lead certified divers, assist with training, manage dive activities, and become someone others can rely on in the water.

At Sail Fish Scuba, your Divemaster training takes place alongside our working dive crew in Key Largo. You’ll build your dive skills, leadership, watermanship, rescue abilities, and dive knowledge while gaining hands-on experience in a real dive operation.

Whether you want to work as a Divemaster, continue on to become a PADI Instructor, or simply take your diving to the professional level, this is where the journey begins.

Compelling Reasons for Pursuing PADI Divemaster

Become Part of the Dive Community

There is a big difference between being a good diver and being responsible for guiding others. You’ll learn how to give dive briefings, evaluate conditions, guide divers, manage groups, and recognize potential problems before they become bigger ones.

Ocean stewardship also becomes part of the job. As a dive professional, you have an opportunity to lead by example, teach responsible diving practices, and help others understand why protecting the places we dive matters.

Why Train as a PADI Divemaster in Key Largo?

Key Largo is the Perfect Classroom!

Key Largo is a great place to develop as a dive professional. Most of our diving is done from boats, giving you plenty of experience learning the ropes of boat diving, preparing for trips, working with divers, and understanding how a professional dive crew operates.

With dozens of reef and wreck sites, you’ll also have opportunities to sharpen your underwater navigation and learn how to guide divers in different environments and conditions.

And with diving and PADI training happening year-round, there’s no shortage of opportunities to assist with courses, work with divers of different experience levels, and put your Divemaster training into practice.

What to Expect During Your PADI Divemaster Course

Learn to Lead Above and Below the Water

Your PADI Divemaster training combines dive theory, independent study, water skills, and hands-on experience. You’ll work on your stamina and diving skills while learning how to organize dive activities, supervise other divers, solve problems, and manage risk in a professional diving environment.

A big part of becoming a Divemaster is learning to see the bigger picture. You’ll develop stronger situational awareness, learn to recognize potential problems before they escalate, evaluate diving conditions, assist other divers, and understand the responsibilities that come with being a dive professional.

You’ll put these skills into practice through hands-on training exercises and experience working alongside Sail Fish Scuba's dive professionals. Along the way, you’ll spend plenty of time in the water, meet other divers who share your love of the ocean, and begin experiencing diving from the professional side.

Why Train with Sail Fish Scuba?

Mentorship Matters. The Mission Matters.

Becoming a Divemaster is about more than completing course requirements. This is where you start building the habits, judgment, and mindset you’ll carry as a dive professional — and having the right mentors matters.

At Sail Fish Scuba, you’ll train alongside professionals with years of experience across recreational diving, deep diving, technical and cave diving, boat operations, dive shop ownership, and training divers at all levels. That experience becomes part of your education. You’ll see how experienced professionals plan dives, manage risk, work with different divers, evaluate conditions, and make thoughtful decisions above and below the water.

But what connects our instructors isn’t simply experience or certifications. It’s a shared belief in developing great divers.  We love diving, we care about the people we introduce to it, and we believe it’s our responsibility as dive professionals to help protect the underwater world we get to explore.

Become a Dive Professional

Complete your PADI Divemaster training with Sail Fish Scuba in Key Largo through an immersive one-week program. Build the leadership skills, dive knowledge, professional judgment, and hands-on experience you need to take your first step as a dive professional.

The PADI Divemaster course is intensive training program with a lot packed into one week. Before booking, we recommend calling the shop so we can review the course prerequisites with you, confirm you meet the requirements, and make sure you’re prepared to begin your Divemaster training.

PADI Divemaster Internship

If you have more time to spend in Key Largo, our Divemaster Internship offers a more immersive path toward becoming a dive professional.

Offered year-round, the internship gives you more time in the water, experience on the dive boat, and broader exposure to the day-to-day operations of a working dive center. You’ll train alongside our instructors, captains, and dive professionals while developing your diving and professional skills.

The internship is also an option for divers still working toward the Divemaster prerequisites. If you arrive with 30 logged dives, for example, we can help you build the experience  needed to begin your PADI Divemaster training.
