Planning a snorkeling tour or scuba diving in Key Largo? Looking for answers before you book?

If you don’t find what you’re looking for in the questions below, feel free to reach out to us directly.

EMAIL Your questions

Key Largo scuba diving and snorkeling tours questions and answers here.

How often do guests get seasick?

Even on calm ocean days, some people can still experience seasickness. While we’re not medical professionals, many divers find that taking non-drowsy motion sickness medication before the tour helps prevent discomfort.

Is tipping the dive guide/boat crew customary?

Yes, Key Largo scuba guides and boat crews on snorkeling tours are in a service-based industry, and our team works diligently to ensure all guests are safe, happy, and totally enjoying their experience. While the amount you tip is up to you, a 20-30% of the tour cost you paid is customary.

What should I bring on the boat?

Please bring only the essentials aboard, as space on the boat may be limited. We recommend reef-safe sun protection. There are dry storage areas to keep your personal items dry.  If you’re bringing your own dive equipment, we recommend a mesh gear bag. We have freshwater rinse buckets for your cameras.

How long is the boat ride?

Key Largo scuba diving tours take an average of 30-40 minutes to get from our boat dock out to the dive sites. Unlike volcanic islands, which have steep walls not far from shore, the Florida Keys sits on a shelf system which remains quite shallow until you've traveled several miles offshore. On our snorkeling tours and dive tours, our Key Largo scuba guides will advise you when we are about 10 minutes from the site, so you have time to get geared up to maximize your time in the water!

What level of service do guests receive?

We take pride in delivering the finest scuba diving and snorkeling tours customer service in Key Largo and the Florida Keys. Our expert guides maintain a maximum 7:1 guest-to-guide ratio to ensure personalized attention. Guests also receive complimentary photos from their tours. For those diving multiple half-day trips, we provide secure overnight gear lockers for added convenience.

Why are professional guides included in our prices?

At Sail Fish Scuba, we believe that attentive guidance, high-quality service, and genuine care are part of what every diver deserves—without any extra fees. That’s why we include experienced, in-water Dive Guides at no additional cost. It’s not a gimmick—it’s simply how we make the dive all about you—safe, personalized, and fully focused on your experience.

Are meals provided on surface intervals?

No

No, because most Key Largo scuba diving and snorkeling tours take place at shallow reef sites—typically under 40 feet deep—surface intervals are brief. Our guests usually have just enough time, about 10 to 15 minutes, to swap gear while the captain moves the boat to the next dive or snorkel site along the Florida Keys reef system. Between the morning and afternoon tours, there’s a longer surface interval of about an hour back at the boat dock to rest and recharge.

How do we get the FREE photos?

2 Places on this website!

You can find your free underwater photos on our Home Page by scrolling to the "FREE Photos" box, or in the drop-down menu under "Guest Free Photos"—plus, the Flickr app makes viewing and sharing even easier.

What is Your Cancellation Policy?

Late cancellations and no-shows before the scheduled trip will result in a 100% charge. This means if a guest cancels within 48 hours or fails to show up for their scheduled reservation, they will be charged 100% of the full reservation payment. This applies even if the reservation was made within the 48-hour window. Groups of three or more must cancel at least one week in advance to avoid charges.  Please visit our Policy page for further details and guidance.

Can I get a refund on E-learning?

E-Learning (online) codes or any course that includes online academics are non-refundable at the time of purchase.

What is the Rental Agreement Policy?

Guests are responsible for returning all rental gear in the condition it was provided. This includes any and all  equipment furnished by Sail Fish Scuba. The guest assumes all risk of loss whether or not covered by their insurance coverage. The guest is responsible for picking up and returning the equipment to/from the rental facility. The Guest's responsibility shall include, but not be limited to, risks while in transit, at all locations named and unnamed and while in use by the guest.

What is the Reassignment Policy?

We may need to reassign your trip to a different dive boat due to unforeseen circumstances. While we strive to avoid these situations, we want to assure you that your safety and enjoyment are our top priorities. We will work with you to ensure your trip proceeds smoothly and safely.    No refunds are given to those who fail to review our policies in advance.

Where can I find Sail Fish Scuba’s policy page?

Please visit the Sail Fish Scuba Policies page for important information. By reserving with Sail Fish Scuba, you agree to all outlined policies.
